A good number turned out for a friendly Pairs Scramble at Pallanne on Friday — our first 18-hole outing of the year on our home course. Although there were still some very soggy patches the course played remarkably well, albeit with no run on the ball at all. The greens were true and fast — such a pity they will be carrotting them this coming week!
The Pairs Scramble is a slow format with four players choosing the best ball to play for each shot and having two shots from each position — but it is fun. The handicaps were worked out by adding both the players handicaps together and dividing by six.
Jean-Marc's team won with a net of 75,two teams came in with 76 and another two teams with 77, so it was a close run competition and proves the handicap formula is about right.
