We had an excellent turnout with 18 players having a shotgun start off three tees. The course was in very good condition apart from some burnt out patches on a few greens and the standard of golf was excellent (by and large!) with half a dozen players achieving handicap or better scores.
John Harrison came in with 36 points, Nick (El Bandito) Trantom managed to only score 37 despite playing like a pro — "Of course I'm not sand-bagging" he protested as he screwed up the final couple of holes. There were three on 38 points and on countback it turned out that Steve Paterson came 4th, Joe Lyons came third and Dave Coombes came second. But way out in front with a magnificent 40 points was Noud Janssen.
We had the usual post game lubrication followed by an excellent lunch at Restaurant Racine at which the winner celebrated by knocking an entire bottle of wine over Phil Faiers who had made the fatal error of wearing white trousers. After the spillage it looked as though he had been stabbed in the groin! Anyway, a splashing time was had by all.
