The competition was a simple Stableford with a 'joker' hole scoring double points. Each player had to nominate their 'joker' hole prior to taking their tee shot. The course had three Par 3s; two Par 4s; two Par 5s and two Par 6s.The opening tee shot from the 4th tee was across a lake and after that there were three ditches and three further lakes to carry. Perhaps the most difficult hole was the Par 3 from the Ladies 13th tee across 200 yards of deep jungle to the 15th green.
On-course refreshments were provided by David Brock-Doyle who kept popping up at different parts of te course. Firstly there were mince pies and vin chaud at the first hole, he was by the tee on the 3rd hole, then alongside the tee on the 6th hole and finally his table (still loaded with mince pies and shortbread and hearty vin chaud) was set up between the penultimate green and the final tee.
Mike Rawlings came third with 21 points and on the same score but coming second on countback was Greg Conley, but the winner with 22 points was our Captain — Martyn Hayward.
After the Cross Country we held our AGM (outside !!!). Committee officers gave their reports and the officers for 2015 were elected as follows: Chairman: Phil Faiers; Captain: Martyn Hayward; Vice Captain: Rob Jones; Secretary: Roger Barton; Treasurer: Greg Conley; Handicaps: Pete Giles and Fixtures: John Wilkinson.
