Several Musketeers took part in the Pro-Am event held at Château de Pallanne on 7 – 8 September. Despite some fairly poor weather the event was a great success. Probably the best part was seeing what a different game the professionals play. Gérard and I had the good fortune to be playing alongside Nicolas Joakimides who won the Samsung Paris Open last year. To give you an idea of the standard he plays to, he just missed eagles on four holes, he almost drove the 12th green from the whites, on the 13th he was worried his drive had gone in the stream (it didn't quite reach) and on the 15th he took a five iron and a wedge.
To witness such golf at close quarters is not only fun, but quite a privilege. If you ever have the opportunity to play in a Pro-Am grab it with both hands, you will not regret it. The professionals are easy going, make you feel relaxed and give you the occasional tip about improving your own game. Our team was not in the prizes, but Gérard and I each won a superb prize in the post Pro-Am raffle — so did Greg
