Rob Jones, our former Captain, sponsored some wonderful prizes and in a closely fought competition the prizes were awarded as follows:
James Gibb won with 36 Stableford points — impressive off his low handicap.
He received the President's Decanter which carries with it the tradition that the winner returns it the following year filled with some really good wine. Some call it a poisoned chalice, but James won a bottle of Armagnac as well, so he wasn't complaining.
David Smith came a close second with 35 points
Steve Paterson came third with 32 points.
The nearest the pin winner (on the 10th) was John Wilkinson — a mere 3 metres from the flag. He won a bottle of Champagne for his skilful tee shot.
The longest drive was by James Gibb on the 11th — only about 30 paces from the green — but the one-prize rule meant he couldn't claim the bottle of Champagne, so it was raffled. Our Handicap Secretary, Pete Giles held the winning ticket and went home with the fizz.
Eleven Musketeers stayed on for lunch at La Racine and prize winners sat proudly with their bottles of Armagnac, Whisky and Champagne in front of them, trying not to gloat too much.
